PRESIDENTS REPORT AGM 2021
The past year has been a real challenge for all of us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members for their cooperation during these times.
Overall, the club has had another successful year on and off the greens.
A special thankyou to the executive who again have been very professional in their duties, which makes my job easier.
As you know the extensions have commenced with a time line of 7 months to complete, but already the builders are finding it difficult to get materials for the job so 7 months could be challenging.
I hope you are enjoying your temporary club rooms. A big thank you to all who took part in the shift especially the Monday crew, and especially to Ray Green from TREVORS CARPETS who donated the carpet which really finished the job off nicely.
As we know our GREENS are our greatest asset, and credit must go to Richard Cox, John Henderson and crew who attend every Monday so that we have some of the best if not the best greens and surroundings of any club.
To the Selectors, thank you again for a job well done under difficult circumstances. Every year I ask us, the members, to support them in their challenging role but unfortunately, they still receive abuse, phone calls etc from disgruntled members. I challenge these members to put up their hands to do the task every year, but guess what they don't. Remember if you are not happy don't talk around the bar etc, go see them on Mondays at 4.30pm for men and Tuesday after the pennant games for the ladies.
Community and Barefoot Bowls were successful again this past 12 months - thank you to all the volunteers who make this happen.
Thanks to lan Secomb, Beth, Mac and Shannon for the operation of the bar and their efforts during the pandemic.
To our club captains Angela and Max, who with their team of committee members carry out all the duties associated with organising all club advents etc. I thank you.
Thanks to all of the executive members for their dedication, professionalism and time put in during the year and who have been of great assistance to me over the past 12 months. We as a club are very fortunate to have these people and it's because of them that we are the club we are today.
Finally, I would like to thank those members who have sought nomination to the various internal Committees for the coming 12 months.
Like most clubs we could not operate without the support of our members so I ask everyone to support our club activities and share the load by helping in some capacity.
To those who are selected this year and join the various committees I know you will thoroughly enjoy the experience of being part of a successful club.
The committee would like to advise all members that the transition of all club
activities to the temporary Clubhouse (green shed) have now been completed.
Entry should be made on the Northern end of the building with parking available
adjacent to the hocket playing fields. Entry can be made in the same way as arranged
at the entrance of the old club if you wish to use greens outside opening times.
The office and bar facilities are still available to members although we are unable to serve
draught beer due to the lack of a cool room.
Next week will see a return to normal social bowls activities and we hope to see
you all there.
